Del Piero: ‘Osimhen frightening, he’s cold-blooded high-quality player’

Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero is waxing poetic of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, describing him as a “frightening” and “cold-blooded” striker.

On Tuesday, Osimhen bagged a brace of assists in Galatasaray’s emphatic 5-2 victory over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League first-leg playoff qualifier tie at the RAMS Part in Istanbul.

The Turkish champions stunned the Turin giants in the encounter, in which though Osimhen did not score, the Nigerian international proved decisive in the clash.

His relentless pressing led directly to Galatasaray’s fourth and fifth goals, after dispossessing Lloyd Kelly to tee up Lang before winning the ball off Khéphren Thuram in the build-up to the fifth.

Speaking on Osimhen’s display against his former club, the Juventus legend underlined the striker’s importance to the Turkish side.

“The very existence of players like Victor Osimhen is frightening. He is a cold-blooded, high-quality player, he never gives up,” De Piero said.

Galatasaray take the three-goal lead into the second leg in Turin next week.
