Delighted Ejuke beats Iheanacho to make Sevilla history
Winger Chidera Ejuke has beaten striker, Kelechi Iheanacho to the honour of being the first Nigerian to score for Sevilla in the LaLiga.
Ejuke was subbed on just around the same time Iheanacho was subbed off in Sevilla’s 2-1 defeat of visiting Real Valladolid at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Tuesday evening.
Both have made history as the first Nigerians to play for Sevilla and Ejuke has now added another piece of history after netting the winner five minutes from time to give his club all three points in front of their home fans.
He has now become the first Nigerian player to score a goal in an official match in the club’s history.
The goal sealed the club’s second win in the LaLiga this season.
‘I feel very good and happy. It’s an important victory for the team. It’s incredible to score in front of the fans, it’s an incredible feeling and also to get the victory. I’m very happy,’ he told Sevilla FC’s official media after the match.
