Deutsch Frustrated as Enyimba Waste Chances in Aba Draw

Emmanuel Deutsch has expressed deep frustration after Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Kun Khalifat in Aba, describing the result as ‘very painful.’
The Cameroonian coach, taking charge of his first home match, watched his side dominate but fail to convert numerous chances before the visitors stunned the crowd with a brilliant solo strike from James Ekebuike in the 38th minute.
Enyimba pressed hard for an equalizer and finally found one late in the game when veteran forward Ekene Awazie fired home a rebound from Chinedu Ufere’s effort in the 86th minute.
Despite salvaging a point, Deutsch lamented his team’s wastefulness in front of goal and criticized Kun Khalifat’s time-wasting tactics, claiming their goalkeeper spent over 20 minutes on the ground without punishment.
The coach insisted that while two points were lost, he remains optimistic about recovering them away from home.
He praised his team’s positional play and discipline, contrasting it with the visitors’ rough tackles and multiple bookings.
‘We played to win, not to waste time,’ Deutsch said, adding that Enyimba’s resilience gives him confidence they can secure victories on the road, just as they did against Rivers United.
The draw leaves Enyimba searching for consistency, but Deutsch believes his side is on the right path and will soon turn performances into wins.
