Dominant Wins Send Nigeria Youth Teams into IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Last Four
Nigeria’s Under-18 and Under-20 men’s handball teams have both advanced to the semi-finals of the ongoing IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 tournament in Lomé, Togo, following emphatic victories over Benin Republic and Ivory Coast.
The Under-18 side, coached by Abdulhakim Yakubu, delivered a dominant performance against Benin, cruising to a 41–19 win.
The defending champions of the youth category controlled the game from start to finish, combining attacking flair with defensive solidity to overwhelm their opponents and underline their status as one of the standout teams in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Under-20 team, guided by Coach David Emmanuel, also secured their place in the last four with a commanding 28-10 victory over Ivory Coast.
Nigeria established early control, leading 10-5 at halftime before turning on the style in the second half to seal a comprehensive win.
Both teams have now underlined their credentials as serious contenders in the tournament organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF).
With semi-final spots secured, attention now shifts to the knockout stage where Nigeria will aim to maintain their unbeaten run and push for qualification to the continental phase of the competition.
