D’Tigress draw USA in Paris 2024 Olympics quarterfinals!

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been drawn against Team USA in the quarterfinal of the Paris 2024 Olympics Women’s basketball game which is scheduled to hold on Wednesday in Paris at the Bercy Arena.

The Nigerians, 5-0 against the USA in head-to-head clashes, will be hoping for a continuation of their giant-killing run after dispatching Australia and Canada in the group phase.

The last time D’Tigress met the USA was at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Antwerp, Belgium where the Americans ran away with 100-46 scores.

The two teams also met in the group phase at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with scores 81-72 in favour of the American ladies.

Nigeria will however be seeking to rewrite the history books between the two countries after D’Tigress produced one of the most defining moments in Olympic basketball history and shredded every pre-tournament prediction and expectation to make it to the Quarter-Finals for the first time.

The Nigerians ladies tore up the script in a big way after they shot down Canada 79-70 to become the first ever African team (women or men) to take a ticket for the last eight.

Ezinne Kalu who has been hugely influential for the team will be the lady the team will rely on to deliver like she did against Australia and on Sunday against Canada.

The playmaker registered 21 points and another D’Tigress star, Elizabeth Balogun stepped up with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Nigeria were ruthless in punishing Canadian errors with an incredible 27 points from turnovers and will certainly be a handful for the Americans.
