Eagles Euro Preview: Iheanacho resumes hunt for first league goal in 17 months, Iwobi seeks first FA Cup goal in six years

Kelechi Iheanacho will be hoping to score his first League goal 17 months after he scored in Leicester City’s 3-1 win at Swansea in a Sky Bet Championship game in October 2023.

Since then, the 28 years old has fired blanks in 20 games in the Sky Bet Championship and nine in the LaLiga.

The Nigerian is on loan at Middlesbrough, the Sky Bet Championship side he joined on loan from LaLiga side, Sevilla in January.

The former Leicester City player has not scored in seven appearances for the Riverside club and will be looking to score on his eighth attempt when Michael Carrick side host Oxford United at the Riverside on Saturday.

Iheanacho has scored five goals in 30 appearances in the competition.

At Craven Cottage, Alex Iwobi will be aiming for his first FA Cup goal since he scored his first and so far only FA Cup goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 demolition of Blackpool in a fourth round game at Bloomfield Road in January 2019.

Iwobi’s compatriot at Fulham, Calvin Bassey will hope to score for the second straight game in his second game in the competition.

Bassey scored on his FA Cup debut, the fifth round tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

Nice head coach Franck Haise has confirmed the Nigerian is in the frame to make his long-awaited comeback on Saturday night.

At the Tupras Stadyumu in Istanbul, Turkey, Victor Osimhen will be looking to extend his lead as the top scorer in the Super Lig by scoring for the second game against Besiktas in a local derby.

Osimhen scored in his club, Galatasaray’s 2-1 last October and will be looking to do a double against their host on Saturday evening.

The 26 year old has scored 20 times in 22 Super Lig games so far this season.
