Ighalo extends goal drought to five games, Tella bags first Bundesliga assist of season

Ademola Lookman scored his seventh Serie A goal of the season in 10 appearances to help Atalanta to a 3-1 defeat of Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday night.

The Nigerian had earlier had a goal chalked off on nine minutes before netting Atalanta’s third goal of the game on 75 minutes.

The 27-year-old has now scored 31 goals in 72 Serie A appearances to come within three goals of moving joint second on the Nigerian all-time Serie A top scorers list with Simy Nwankwo while Victor Osimhen remains the undisputed top scorer with 65 goals in 108 appearances.

In Turkey, Osimhen failed to score in only the second game in seven Super Lig appearances since he switched from Napoli in the Serie A in September.

Galatasaray won the game against Bodrum FK at the Bodrum Ilce Stadyumu via a 54th minute goal by Michy Batshuayi.

Osimhen has scored six goals in seven Super Lig games and eight 10 appearances across all competitions.

Still in Turkey, David Akintola bagged two assists to help Çaykur Rizespor beat Eyüpspor 2-1 in a Turkish Süper Lig encounter. The 28 year old has now provided two assists and scored once in 10 games for his club this term.

At the Gaziantep Stadyumu, David Okereke scored once to inspire his club, Gaziantepspor to a 3-0 win against Istanbul Basaksehir. It was the 27-year old’s second goal of the season in seven Super Lig appearances.

In England, Alex Iwobi netted his third goal of the season and sixth in 11 appearances against Wolves who came to the Craven Cottage to beat Fulham 4-1.

In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika opened his goal account for the 2024/25 football season as Club Brugge annihilated 10-man Sint-Truiden 7-0 in a Belgian Jupiler Pro League game.

The 23-year-old scored his club’s fifth goal of the game and it is now his fourth in 106 appearances overall for his club.

At the Cegeka Arena, Tolu Arokodare netted his club, KRC Genk’s first goal in their 3-0 mauling of visiting Sporting Charleroi to keep his club six points clear of Club Brugge at the top of the log.

It was Arokodare’s ninth goal in 15 appearances for Genk this season to keep him number one in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League’s top scorers’ chart.

In Germany, Nathan Tella provided an assist for Granit Xhaka in Bayer Leverkusen’s 5-2 come from behind demolition of visiting FC Heidenheim at the BayArena.

Tella was Tella’s second assist of the season in 13 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen who missed the services of Victor Boniface who was injured on international duty with Nigeria.

In Saudi Arabia, Odion Ighalo failed to score for the fifth straight game in his club, Al-Wehda FC’s 1-0 defeat of their guest, Al-Taawoun FC at the
King Abdul Aziz Stadium in Mecca in a Saudi Pro League matchweek 11 fixtures.

The 35-year-old last scored in the 2-2 draw with Al-Fayha at the start of October. He has scored just twice in 11 games in the league so far this term.
