Eagles Review: Troost-Ekong scores first Al Kholood goal, Ndidi bags fourth assist of season as Okoye concedes three again!

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong netted his first goal for his Saudi Pro League club, Al Kholood in their 4-2 loss to Al Hilal at the King Abdullah Stadium in Buraidah on Saturday.

The Nigerian scored on 87th minute to reduce the tally to 4-2 after Hammam Al-Hammami netted Al Kholood’s first goal in the 71st minute after the visitors had raced to a 4-0 lead in the first 48 minutes of the encounter.

The 31-year-old has now scored for six of the 10 clubs he has featured for in his career as a professional footballer.

In England, Wilfred Ndidi bagged his fourth assist of the season but could not secure his first win against Arsenal in five years as the Gunners scored two goals in the dying minutes to beat the Foxes 4-2 at the Emirates.

Ndidi whose own goal had given Arsenal a 3-2 lead on 94 minutes provided James Justin with the assist on 63 minutes to draw the visitors level after Arsenal ended the first half 2-0 up.

At the City Ground, Alex Iwobi helped Fulham to a 1-0 defeat of their host, Nottingham Forest in what was the Nigerian’s 104 win in 259 appearances in the Premier League.

Ola Aina started his sixth straight game while Taiwo Awoniyi made his first start of the season but could not score the goal(s) that will preserve the homers’ unbeaten start to the season.

In Spain, Umar Sadiq recovered from a hamstring injury that ensured he missed his side, Real Sociedad’s Europa League game mid-week, to make the bench in the 3-0 defeat of Valencia at teh Reale Arena.

The Nigerian is yet to score a goal for his club this season while Chrisantus Uche was once again in the starting lineup for Getafe who defeated visiting Deportivo Alaves 2-0 at the Coliseum.

In Germany, Victor Boniface was withdrawn in the 78th minute for his Nigerian compatriot, Nathan Tella as Bayer Leverkusen were forced to a 1-1 by their host, Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Boniface has now played twice against the Bavarians without scoring.

Still in Germany, Frank Onyeka fell 4-0 with Augsburg at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig to their host, RB Leipzig.

In Italy, Maduka Okoye conceded three goals for the second game in a row after his side, Udinese lost 3-2 to defending Serie A champion, Inter Milan at the Bluenergy Stadium – Stadio Friuli in Udine.

The Nigerian goalkeeper conceded three goals at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome last Sunday against Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s AS Roma.

Still in Italy and at the Stadio Renato Dell’Ara, Lazar Samardžić’s 90th minute goal saved Atalanta from losing for the second straight Serie A game. Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman played in the entire duration of the game but he was prevented from netting in his third Serie A game in a row.

In France, Folarin Balogun scored the equalizer for Monaco in their 1-1 draw with visiting Montpellier at the Stade Louis II in Monaco. Nigeria’s Akor Adams who scored a brace the last time out for John Utaka’s former club was unable to replicate that feat.
