Eagles Review: Unused for the seventh time, Iheanacho has three games left to score first league goal of 2024!
Lookman fails to score for the third game against AS Roma in Serie A
Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for the seventh time on Monday night when his side, Sevilla drew 1-1 with Osasuna in a LaLiga matchweek 15 fixture at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville leaving the Nigerian with only three LaLiga matches left for the 28-year-old to score his first league goal of 2024.
The Nigerian has not scored in the league since he netted the third goal in Leicester City’s 3-1 defeat of Swansea in a Sky Bet Championship game in October 2023 and has also not scored in seven LaLiga appearances since he joined Sevilla as a free agent in July this year.
Iheanacho will now be hoping he can score when Sevilla visit the Civitas Metropolitan to play Diego Simone’s Atletico Madrid on Sunday or when his side host Celta Vigo on December 14. The final LaLiga game of the season for the Nigerian will come up at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid three days before Christmas.
At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Ademola Lookman was on for 64 minutes for Atalanta but could not score his first goal in three Serie A appearances against their host, Claudio Ranieri’s AS Roma.
The Nigerian was also hoping to hit double digits in front of goal for the third season in a row for Atalanta, but it was not to be as Marten De Roon (69′) and Nicolò Zaniolo (89′) netted the two goals that gave La Dea that take them within a point of leaders, Napoli who have garnered 32 points in 14 games.
Lookman has netted seven goals in 11 Serie A appearances and nine in 16 games across all competitions.
