Edose Ibadin thrilled to be going to the Olympics

Nigeria 800m record holder, Edose Ibadin is thrilled to make history as the second Nigerian man to run in the 800m at the Olympics following his inclusion in the thletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN’s team to the Paris Olympics.

Ibadin made history as the first Nigerian to run inside 1:45 over the distance when he ran 1:44.81 in 2020 to break the 1:45.60 Nigeria record he set a year earlier.

The 31 year old took to his Facebook to celebrate his selection.

‘After not making the Tokyo Games, I was sad and at the same time reminded that weeping may last through the night but joy comes in the morning. To everyone who has invested in this journey, I just want to say thank you.

‘To Every coach I’ve had to every person I’ve trained with, I thank you. From prayers, encouraging words, tough love, none of it was in vain.

‘I’ve learned a lot of on this journey and I am glad that Paris gets to be a part of it,’ wrote Ibadin who will be the second Nigerian after Ado Maude to run in the 800m event at the Olympics.

Maude competed in the event at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea but did not go beyond the first round with his 1:50.48 performance.
