Ehizuelen, Ogbeide, Oyiki, Madojemu make new Edo Athletics Association Board

Jumpers Charlton Ehizuelen and George Ogbeide aka Lakayana, high hurdler, Moses Oyiki and sprinter, Mabel Madojemu are among notable and accomplished former Nigerian track and field internationals who made the list of the new board of the Edo state Athletics Association announced Tuesday by the Edo state Sports Commission.

Ehizuelen, NCAA triple jump (1974) and long jump (1975) champion and arguably Nigeria’s greatest long jumper of all time will be joined on the board by another accomplished long jumper, Ogbeide, a 1991 African Games and NCAA champion.

Orode Oyiki, an Olympian is an African Games 110m finalist and former national champion in the event while Madojemu was a former junior sprint sensation.

Also on the list are another former track and field star, Friday Enoye as well as Dr Felix Idahosa, a sports philanthropist.

The board is headed by Obrume Onome while Mrs Ikekhua Patricia Ikharelu will serve as the Secretary.

Obruthe succeeds Dele Edokpayi who was sacked by the Commission and the association he led dissolved.

In a letter signed by Lucky Adagbonyin on behalf of the Edo state Sports Commission boss, the new board has been charged to ensure a positive turnaround in the fortunes of athletics in the state.
