Ejuke nets first LaLiga goal to lift Sevilla to 12th, Iheanacho fires blank, Ndidi’s 280th Foxes game delayed

Chidera Ejuke was the hero when he scored the winner for Sevilla in their 2-1 defeat of Real Valladolid at the Estadio R. Sanchez Pizjuan on Tuesday evening.

The Nigerian was subbed on for Jesus Navas on 61 minutes and scored the winner 14 minutes later to give Sevilla their second win in seven LaLiga games this season.

It was the 26 year old’s first LaLiga goal since he joined in July this year and his second straight substitute appearance.

While Ejuke has become the second Nigerian to score in the LaLiga this term after Getafe’s Chrisantus Uche who scored on his debut in the competition, Kelechi Iheanacho Iheanacho and Sadiq Umar are still looking to open to score this term.

Iheanacho had the chance on Tuesday evening but could not for all of the 62 minutes he was on the pitch in his second start in four games since his switch to the club as a free agent.

In England, Wilfred Ndidi was rested by Steve Cooper for Leicester City in their Carabao Cup third round fixture at League Two side, Walsall.

Ndidi was due to make his 280th appearance for the Foxes since he joined in January 2017 but Cooper feels the 27 year old who has provided three assists in the Premier League this season will be more useful when they travel to the Emirates stadium to face Arsenal on Saturday.
