Ejuke, Simon named among 50 best dribblers in Europe’s top leagues
Sevilla winger, Chidera Ejuke and FC Nantes’ Moses Simon are among the top 50 dribblers named by CIES Football Observatory in its latest post.
According to the post, Ejuke, who tops the chart for the most dribbles in the LaLiga, according to the Spanish topflight league’s website, is one of the top five dribblers in Europe so far this season behind Ghana and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus who tops the chart, Iliman Ndiaye of Everton, Nuno Tavares of SS Lazio and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli.
Simon, who is now into his sixth season at Nantes, has consistently made himself a headache for opposition full-backs in Ligue 1 and appears to be enjoying himself at the Stade de la Beaujoire. He is ranked as the 21st best in terms of number of successful dribbles.
CIES Football Observatory, a research group that specializes in the statistical analysis of football, in particular in the areas of demographics, transfer values and performance (technical, tactical, physical) says the dribbles/take on index is computed on a scale of 100 from the frequency of successful dribbles achieved by players, corrected by their success rate (Wyscout data).
‘A dribble is considered successful when the team of the player who attempted it maintains possession by approaching the opponent’s goal or when the dribbler is fouled. The data refer to the current season’s domestic league matches. Only footballers who played at least 360′ have been included in the rankings,’ said theCIES Football Observatory.
