‘Ejuke’s ready to play,’ say Sevilla coach, Pimienta
Sevilla FC head coach, García Pimienta has assured that Chidera Ejuke, one of the two Nigerian players the club has signed this year will get the chance to make his LaLiga debut when Samuel Chukwueze’s former club, Villarreal visit the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Friday.
Ejuke was an unused substitute last Friday at Las Palmas where Sevilla played their first game of the 2024/2025 LaLiga season.
Pimienta has now assured the Nigerian is ready to play and also revealed why he did not bring in the 26 year old during the game.
“He’s ready to play. We had doubts about whether he would start or not. The last fifteen or twenty minutes were the best for us and we created clear chances on goal. I didn’t consider the change because I saw that the team was doing well,’ said Pimienta at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
Also set to make his LaLiga debut will be Kelechi Iheanacho who missed last Friday’s game because the club could not register him as a LaLiga player on time due to wage cap issues in the competition.
The club finally did that on Wednesday and Iheanacho will now be hoping to make a scoring debut if he gets to play.
