Emmanuel Dennis rated best Watford player of 2021
Troost-Ekong, Danny Rose rated worst players
Forward Emmanuel Dennis has been rated the best Watford player of the outgoing year despite the 24 year old joining the club in the summer of the outgoing year.
Watford-based weekly newspaper, Hertfordshire Mercury rated the former Club Brugge of Belgium star nine out of a possible 10 marks while one of his Nigerian compatriots at the club, William Troost-Ekong was ranked the second worst player after former Tottenham player Danny Rose.
”What a signing Dennis has been. He cost the club £3.4million but he’s arguably worth ten times that amount already. With seven goals and five assists to his name in 15 Premier League appearances, he has been up there with the league’s best and has undoubtedly been Watford’s star performer,’ wrote the newspaper.
Coming next to Dennis is another former Tottenham player Moussa Sissoko who got eight out of 10 with striker Joshua King who has served as a good foil to the Nigerian forward getting 7.5 over 10.
Super Eagles assistant captain Troost-Ekong was rated four out of 10 after some calamitous displays that have ensured the Hornets are just three points above the relegation zone.
”Unfortunately for the Nigerian, Watford’s defensive frailties can be summed up by a couple of his recent performances. He bizarrely let the ball float past him against Leicester – costing his side a goal. And had another moment of madness against Brentford, giving away a late penalty – costing his side the game. If Nicolas Nkoulou was fit, Troost-Ekong would not be playing,’ wrote the weekly newspaper,’ said the influential and widely read newspaper.
The third Nigerian at the club, Peter Etebo is rated above Troost-Ekong despite being out of action since September and missing the Hornets’ last 14 games in all competitions.
”Despite not playing under the new boss, Etebo has said he would ‘love’ to join Watford on a permanent basis. He had the immediate faith of Xisco before injury – starting the first four league games of the season. It will be interesting to see what Ranieri makes of him,’ the newspaper wrote and ranked the 26 year old six over 10.
