Paris 2024 Olympics Shot Put finalist, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi opened his 2025 indoor campaign with a 20.88m effort to place second at the Orlen Cup Łódź, a World Athletics indoor tour silver event held at the Atlas Arena in Łódź, a city in central Poland.
The Nigerian, winner of the African Games and African Athletics Championships gold medal in the Shot Put opened with 19.91m in the first round and in fourth position. He moved into first position with his 20.58m throw in the second half, two centimetres ahead of home boy, Bukowiecki Konrad who opened with 20.56m in the first round.
Enekwechi further improved to 20.88m in the third round to further consolidate on his position after Bukowiecki had two no throws in the second and the third round.
The tide however changed in favour of Bukowiecki in the fifth round when he threw 20.95m, a personal season’s best to move into first position.
He retained this position as the best response Enekwechi offered was a 20.87m throw in the sixth and final round.
With his mark, Bukowiecki moved to fifth in the 2025 top list while Enekwechi is seventh.
