Enekwechi takes chase for Shot Put history to Ostrava

Days after throwing a new 21.91 lifetime best and Nigeria record, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi will be at the 63rd Golden Spike, a World Athletics Continentla Gold Tour event Tuesday in Ostrava, a city in the north-east of the Czech Republic seeking to become the first Nigerian nay African man and the 40th in the world to hit the 22m mark in the Shot Put.

The reigning African Games champion was in his element at the Prefontain Classic Diamond League meeting on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, USA where he threw 21.91 in his second attempt to move to number two in the African all-time top list in the event.

The 31 year old could be seeking to move above Janus Roberts (21.97m) in the African ranking and make history as first African to hit the 22m mark.

Enekwechi will also be seeking to become the first Nigerian to make the podium at the Olympics after finishing 12th on his debut three years ago in Tokyo, Japan.
