Enoh demoted to Minister of State, moved to Ministry Trade and Investment, Dikko named new NSC Chairman
John Owan Enoh, the Minister who supervised one of Nigeria’s worst outings in Olympic history has been demoted by President Bola Tinubu and made a Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment [Industry].
Enoh was moved away from the Sports Development Ministry following the immediate winding up of the Ministry and the transfer of its functions to the National Sports Commission as approved by the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday.
In Enoh’s place but this time as chairman of the board of the National Sports Commission is Shehu Dikko, a former head of the League Management Company responsible for the organization of the Nigerian flagship league. He also doubled as the first vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Dikko’s appointment, according to the Federal Executive Council, is to see to the development of a vibrant sports economy following Enoh’s mishandling of the gains made under his predecessor, Sunday Akin Dare who has bene appointed as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Many Nigerians had criticized the appointment of Enoh as Sports Development Minister last year and his tenure did not witness any development in the sector, prompting Punch Newspaper to writing a damning editorial on the Cross River state man as lacking ideas on how to manage the sector.
