Enyimba coach, Yema ready to spoil Amuneke’s NPFL debut as Heartland coach

Enyimba FC head coach Yemi ‘Yema’ Olarenwaju says the Peoples Elephant aim to start strongly as they bid to reclaim the NPFL title they lost to oriental brothers, Rangers international of Enugu last season.
Enyimba will be away on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam stadium where they will face a team that will parade former Nigeria international winger and Olympian, Emmanuel Amuneke as head coach but Yema is confident his men can spoil the former Super Eagles star’s debut as coach of a Nigerian club.
‘I can say we are ready, and we have no excuse now. The squad has been working tirelessly to integrate new signings into the team. The integration has been going well, and it’s time to translate it to results.
‘We are eager to make a strong impression in the league, and we know that Heartland FC, led by Coach Emmanuel Amunike, will pose a formidable challenge.
‘Coach Amunike would want to start on a good note too in the league. But we are determined to give it our all and start very well, hoping for a positive result in Owerri,’ he said.
The last time the two teams met was in November 2023, when Stephen Chukwude scored the winner for Enyimba FC in a closely contested match.
