Norwegian leads Man City fightback in 4-2 defeat of Crystal Palace
Manchester City hat-trick hero Erling Haaland is delighted to take centre stage and helped the Cityzens comeback from a 2-0 first half deficit to win as Pep Guardiola’s men taught Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace some football lessons.
Haaland notched a second half hat-trick, his first for his new club and in the Premier League but his 13th overall in his very young but storied career.
“Really good feeling. A proud moment for me and my family. We keep going. These games are why I’m here – to turn things around when there are difficult times. In the end it was about small adjustments. We were almost there sometimes in the first half so it was about getting it done. This is what we do. It’s a good feeling. It’s really important to have this kind of mentality,’ said the Norwegian.
Haaland also made history as just the fourth player to score six or more goals in his first four Premier League appearances and the first to do so since Diego Costa managed seven in 2014. Mick Quinn and one of Haaland’s Man City predecessors Sergio Aguero also got six.
The Norwegian has now scored five goals in his first four Premier League appearances for Man City, only Sergio Agüero (6) has netted more in his first four games for the Citizens in the competition.
