Ese Brume missing at Golden Gala, out of Diamond League final

Despite listing her s one of the competitors at the 13th leg of the 15-leg 2024 Wanda Diamond League meetings, Nigeria’s Ese Brume was not nowhere the long jump pit at the Olympic stadium in Rome when the event started Friday evening.

No reason has been given for the Nigerian’s non-participation in the event as the 28-year-old African Games and African Athletics Championships champion will not be in the Diamod League final next month in Brussels, Belgium to see if she could upgrade the silver she won last year in Eugene, USA in her first final to gold this around.

The African long jump record holder had a slim chance of qualifying for the final but would have done so if she had won the event in Rome.

She missed her first Diamond League of the meeting in Suzhou in April due to visa issues and did not participate in any of the Diamond League meetings where the women’s long jump was to feature.
