Europa League: Osimhen starts for Galatasaray, guns for fifth goal in nine games

Victor Osimhen has been named as Galatasaray’s top scorer in Wednesday night’s Europa League group stage game against visiting Greek side, PAOK FC at the Rams Global Stadyumu in Istanbul.
It is the Nigerian’s first game in Europe for his Turkish Super Lig side and he may as well as use the game to score his first goal since he switched Serie A side, Napoli on loan for Turkey.
The 25-year-old has not scored in the two Super Lig games he has played for the club but has provided an assist in each.
If he scores Wednesday night, it will be his fifth in the competition in nine appearances.
He played eight times in the competition while at Napoli and scored four goals.
Osimhen will be keen to close the gap between him and Obafemi Martins who is the Nigerian with most goals in the competition. Martins scored 13 goals in 27 appearances in the competition but the Galatasaray star will feel he can tie the former Inter Milan man like he did in the UEFA Champions.
Both Osimhen and Martins are on nine goals each and the former still has the possibility of playing in the competition because Martins has retired from the game.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian, Umar Sadiq who has also scored four times in the competition is not listed for Real Sociedad’s trip to the Allianz Riviera where they will take on Ligue 1 side, Nice.
