Everton FC: Iwobi out for around three weeks

Premier League side, Everton says Alex Iwobi will be out for around three weeks.

The club posted on its twitter page Sunday morning that the Nigerian international midfielder sustained an ankle ligament injury but will only be out for about three weeks.

”Alex Iwobi is expected to be out for around three weeks with the ankle ligament injury sustained against Manchester United on Friday.” said the club in its twitter post.

The twitter post confirms the player’s tweet on Saturday that he will be back soon.

‘Appreciate The Love, Back Soon.’ the Nigerian wrote on his twitter page on Saturday.

Everton gaffer, Frank Lampard had hoped the Nigerian’s injury was not serious.

Iwobi fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of Everton’s 3-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United last Friday. He was unable to continue and had to be taken off on a stretcher in tears.

Lampard told evertontv after the game: “We hope it’s not too serious.
“It is an ankle ligament injury, we hope it’s a lesser one. He will have a scan tomorrow (Saturday) to confirm.”
