Fasuba’s daughter, Annabelle wins Southwest indoor 60m title

Annabelle Fasuba, daughter of Nigeria’s 100m record holder, Olusoji Fasuba, has won the Southwest Indoor Championship age group title at the weekend in Cardiff.

Fasuba sped home first in 7.77 seconds to win the under-15 girls’ 60m title.

Her time ranks her second in the early United Kingdom 2025 rankings while the 13-year-old closed 2024 with an impressive 7.61 lifetime best which is a club record.

It is the fastest time in the United Kingdom this current indoor season and ranked her third in the 2024 rankings.

Annabelle is surely following in her father’s footsteps and has revealed she has her eyes firmly fixed on a podium appearance at the Olympics like her father did.

Soji Fasuba holds the Nigerian 100m outdoor record at 9.85, won the World 60m indoor title in Valencia in 2008 and remains the only African man to win the African Championships 100m title three times in a row.

He ran the first leg for the Nigerian 4x100m relay team that finished third at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. He also made it to the final of the 100m event at the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan, finishing fourth in 10.07 seconds, the fastest ever recorded by a Nigerian in the flagship event of World Athletics.
