FCT SWAN urges Sports Minister to take responsibility for Team Nigeria’s Paris 2024 Olympics failure and not shift blames

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has urged Sports Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh, to take responsibility for Team Nigeria’s shambolic outing at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The FCT chapter of SWAN says it aligns with the stance of the National SWAN and expressed disappointment over Team Nigeria’s poor performance, denouncing the subsequent blame games and scapegoating in strong terms.

It therefore urges Enoh to focus on finding solutions rather than engaging in blame-shifting and advised him to engage FCT SWAN directly rather than resorting to divisive tactics with third parties.

This much the FCT SWAN said in the communique it issued at the end of its inaugural congress held at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja on Friday.

The FCT SWAN also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unprecedented allocation of 12 billion naira towards the execution of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. This historic investment reflects a strong commitment to the advancement of sports in Nigeria.

It also acknowledged and congratulated the return of former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia following the completion of his five-year FIFA ban. The association encouraged him to bring his extensive coaching expertise to advance football development in Nigeria.
