FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025: Junior D’Tigress finalizes roster ahead of opener against China

The Nigeria U19 Women’s Basketball Team, Junior D’Tigress, has confirmed its final roster and is set to begin its campaign at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025, hosted in Brno, Czech Republic from July 12–20.

Drawn into Group B, Nigeria will face a tough opening fixture against China on Saturday, July 12 at 05:00 (local time). The team will then take on Canada on Sunday, July 13, and wrap up group play against Portugal on Tuesday, July 15.

Led by Head Coach Faustina Akhere Juliana, with support from Associate Head Coach Atonye Nyingifa and Assistant Coach Usuwa Chinedu Stone, the 12-player squad blends grassroots talent with international experience. Notable names include:

Francisca Chukwu, currently playing in Italy’s Serie A2

Toby Nweke, a dynamic guard known for her court vision

Momoluwa Tewogbade, a rising star with versatile skills

The tournament features 16 teams split into four groups. All teams will advance to the Round of 16 on July 16, with Group B crossing over against Group A. The Quarter-Finals are scheduled for July 18, followed by Semi-Finals on July 19, and the Final on July 20
