FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles drop eight places to 38 in the world!
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped eight places from 30th to 38th in the latest FIFA world rankings released Thursday.
The Nigeria senior national team drew one and lost the other in their two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games and the result is their drop to their lowest ranking since December 2023 when they were ranked 42nd best in the world and sixth in Africa.
The team improved to over a decade high 28th in February after finishing second at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire but dropped two places two months later after losing one and winning the other of their two friendly games in March.
The Super Eagles have not just dropped in the world ranking but are also out of the top three ranking it has enjoyed since February and have now dropped to fifth.
Morocco moved up a place to 12th in the world and first in Africa while Senegal are still second despite dropping from 17th in the world to 18th while Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire have moved uo one places to 36th and 37th in the world and third and fourth in Africa, supplanting Nigeria in the process.
Meanwhile, the top three in the world has remain unchanged with Argentina, the reigning world champion still number one, followed by France and Belgium while England dropped to fifth and Brazil moved to fourth.
