For the second straight year, Fraser-Pryce set to make 2024 European athletics circuit debut in Luzern
Just how ready is three-time Olympic champion and 10-time World champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad branded, officially, Paris 2024?
That will be the question on every athletics follower’s lips as the Jamaican makes her 2024 debut in the European athletics circuit Tuesday at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern 2024, a World Athletics Continental Tour – Silver meeting.
Fraser-Pryce has raced just four times this year and all in Kingston, Jamaica. She ran her personal season’s best of 10.91 to win her semifinal heat to qualify for the final of the Jamaican Championships, National Stadium at the end of last month.
Interestingly, Fraser-Pryce also made her debut in the European athletics circuit at the same meeting last year, running 10.82 to win and break the meeting record of 10.91 set in 2002 by Ukraine’s Shanna Block-Pintusevich.
The Jamaican would go on to finish third in the 100m event at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary later that summer.
She has won four 100m medals at the Olympics made up of two gold (2008 and 2012), one silver (2021) and one bronze (2016).
