Galatasaray could replicate Osimhen strategy to land Lookman

Galatasaray are reportedly keeping close tabs on Ademola Lookman’s situation at Atalanta and may adopt a similar approach to the one they used to secure Victor Osimhen from Napoli last summer.

With the Serie A transfer window set to close today at 8pm, Lookman remains an Atalanta player despite a turbulent summer.

The Nigerian forward submitted a formal transfer request earlier in the window after a proposed move to Inter collapsed dramatically.

Inter had tabled a €45 million bid, which was rejected, prompting Lookman to publicly accuse Atalanta of reneging on prior agreements and treating him unfairly.

According to Lookman, there was a verbal understanding that he would be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrived.

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi later confirmed the agreement, but clarified it applied only to offers from top clubs outside Serie A, effectively blocking a move to San Siro.

Frustrated, Lookman temporarily left team training and returned to the UK to train independently. Though he has since rejoined Atalanta, he continues to work separately from the main squad.

With just hours left before the Italian window shuts, Lookman has yet to secure a transfer.

However, Galatasaray could still make a move, as the Turkish transfer window remains open until Sunday, September 12. That gives the Istanbul giants a strategic advantage.

According to reports from transfer expert, Rudi Galetti, the Super Lig side remains interested in the Atalanta star.

This wouldn’t be the first time Galatasaray have exploited a staggered deadline.

Last year, they signed fellow Nigerian star Victor Osimhen from Napoli after his deadline-day talks with Chelsea and Al-Ahli collapsed.

Galatasaray swooped in with a loan deal, which was later made permanent for €75 million.
