Galatasaray rubbishes Osimhen exit reports, wants Nigerian for many more seasons
Ibrahim Hatipoğlu, deputy chairman of Galatasaray Sportif AŞ has rubbished reports linking Victor Osimhen with a January exit to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Osimhen joined the Turkish Super Lig champion on a season-long loan deal from Napoli early this month but there have been reports in the British media that the Nigerian could switch Turkey for England when the transfer window is opened in January.
‘Osimhen is not leaving in January. We are even planning to play Osimhen next season. Osimhen is Galatasaray’s footballer until June. Discussing this is an attempt to change the agenda, to spoil the enjoyment of watching Osimhen.
‘The player shows how committed he is to Galatasaray in every match. Man plays where he is happy. He has a contract with us until the end of the season. He is very happy to come to Galatasaray.
‘We have to think about how Osimhen will be a Galatasaray player in the next seasons. There’s no room for debate whether he’s going to go at half-time or not,’ said Hatipoğlu to Radyospor after the derby match which his side won 3-1 at Fenerbahçe.
Hatipoğlu says he cannot wait for Mauro Icardi to return from injury and partner Osimhen in the attack.
‘I’m looking forward to the first match between Icardi and Osimhen. I believe that the offensive line in Galatasaray is one of the top three offensive lines in Europe. Other areas of our team are also very strong. Icardi, Batshuayi and Osimhen are all very effective players. I’m looking forward to these three playing together.”
