Gallas: Chelsea Risk Becoming ‘Toothless’ Like Man United If…

Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham defender William Gallas has urged Chelsea to rediscover success quickly, warning that failure to do so could leave them ‘toothless’ like Manchester United.

Chelsea endured a torrid spell in March, losing four successive games, including an 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint‑Germain in the Champions League last‑16.

The Blues are now set to finish the season without silverware under manager Liam Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca but has struggled to spark a turnaround.

Speaking to BoyleSports, Gallas stressed the importance of immediate success at big clubs.

‘Speaking as a former player, especially for a big club like Chelsea, you do need success right away,’ he said. ‘Now everybody says you need time to rebuild a club, and that’s why so many clubs like United and Arsenal are these long‑term projects. But for me, that’s only because of mistakes they made in the past.’

‘I remember when I used to play against United. That club was very scary. Even the players on the pitch, it was something when you played against them.

‘The last few years have been a disaster for them. Even if they are coming back slowly, they are not really a scary team anymore. That is because of mistakes they made in the past,’ Gallas added, reflecting on United’s decline

Chelsea have won 10 of their 19 matches since Rosenior took charge in January, losing seven and drawing two, as they fight to climb back into the Champions League spots.
