Ghana Athletics Association nominated for 2024 Member Federations Award

The Ghana Athletics Association is among the six nominees for World Athletics’ Member Federations Award ahead of the World Athletics Awards 2024.

According to the world governing body for the sports, the award recognizes a Member Federation that has distinguished itself in its accomplishments throughout the year and, as a result, positively contributed to the growth and profile of the sport.

Ghana Athletics Association was nominated by the Confederation of African Athletics for the award.

In March, Ghana’s capital city of Accra held the African Games, where winners included the host nation’s Joseph Amoah in the 200m, and Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah and Evans Yamoah in the high jump.

The federation in Ghana has been very active in the Western Region and has ensured the organization of major competitions in the area.

Also listed for the award are Athletics Federation of India, Federacion Paraguaya de AtletismoFederacao Portuguesa de Atletismo, Athletic Solomons (Solomon Islands) and the USA Track and Field

Athletics Australia was named as winner of the 2023 Member Federation Award while Confederacao Brasileira de Atletismo (Brazil) won in 2022 and Costa Rica in 2021.

Athletics Kenya has been nominated more than once for the award, but no African country has won it.
