Gift Orban expected to leave Lyon following Mikautadze’s arrival

L’Équipe is reporting that Georges Mikautadze’s arrival at Lyon is expected to force January signing Gift Orban out of the club.

Orban joined Lyon in a €14m deal from KAA Gent in January but he has not been as prolific in front of goal as he was at the Belgian side where he scored 32 goals in 52 appearances.

The 21 year old who started only six of the 16 appearances he made for the Ligue 1 side last season netted just three goals.

Georgian international, Mikautadze has now officially left Ligue 2 side Metz to join Lyon, with both clubs confirming the deal.

The 23-year-old, free-scoring sensation scored 13 times in 20 appearances for Metz in Ligue 1 last season and his presence is expected will severely hamper Orban’s chances of featuring, especially given Alexandre Lacazette’s decision to see out the final year of his contract.
