Haaland, Lewandowski make UEFA Champions League history

Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland and Barcelona striker, Robert Lewandowski have made UEFA Champions League history after the first 45 minutes of Tuesday night’s games involving their clubs.

Haaland scored the Cityzens’ only goal of the half, his 45th in 44 appearances in the competition, and becomes the fastest player to reach 50 Champions League goal involvements in the #UCL era, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s previous record of 45 games.

At the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys in Barcelona, Lewandowski scored on 10 minutes to give the Catalans a 1-0 first half lead and became just the third player to score 100 goals in the UEFA Champions League, along with Cristiano Ronaldo (140) and Lionel Messi (129).

It’s taken the Poland star just 125 games to reach the milestone, two more than Messi (123) and 12 fewer than Ronaldo (137).
