Haaland named Man City Player of the season, says he didn’t expect his rollercoaster season

Erling Haaland says told his club’s official website he didn’t expect his maiden season at Manchester City to be this historic after he was named Etihad Airways Player of the Season.

The Norwegian helped Pep Guardiola’s side claim the Treble of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in only his debut season.

He netted 36 times to set the record for most scored in a Premier League season while becoming the highest scoring City player in a single season with 52.

And Haaland says feels ‘happy and humble’ to be named 2023’s Player of the Season.

‘I didn’t expect this [season] to be this good,’ he told Manchester City website.

‘I still expected to perform. I came into the team who won the Premier League in this previous two years, so to come in and perform I knew I was going to do [it].

‘I was confident and I have also been really happy, I’ve been smiling a lot and enjoying myself, so that’s the most important thing.

‘I’m really happy and humble to get this [award] as well.
