Half Marathon World Record holder, Gidey becomes a mother

Tokyo Olympics 10,000m bronze medalist and Half marathon world record holder Letesenbet Gidey is now a mother.

The 27 year old Ethiopian announced the birth of her son on Instagram.

In 2023, she earned a silver medal in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Budapest, a year after winning the title in Oregon.

She took second at the New York City Marathon in November 2023, her only podium finish in a marathon major.

Twice the World Cross Country champion 92015 and 2017), Gidey raced once in 2024 (3rd place in 14:37 in the 5000m at the Suzhou Diamond League)
