‘He helped me win Europa League’: Atletico goalkeeper hails Lookman after display vs Barca

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso has hailed Ademola Lookman, recalling the Super Eagles forward’s heroics in the 2024 final of the UEFA Europa League.

Lookman announced himself to the world in Dublin, hitting a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, helping the Italian club to their first-ever European title.

Musso, who was Lookman’s teammate at Atalanta for three seasons until last summer, praised the Nigeria international’s display in Atletico’s Copa del Rey first-leg semi-final against Barcelona on Thursday night.

The Eagles star scored in his first game at the Wanda Metropolitano in the encounter and also registered an assist, sealing an incredible start to life in Spain.

Lookman joined Atletico during the winter transfer window after a successful four-year stint at Atalanta.

Musso, who also left the Bergamo outfit last summer to join the capital club, explained his closeness with the former RB Leipzig winger and his family, and applauded the hard work the former African Footballer of the Year put in for the team.

‘I love that Ademola Lookman is here. I know him as a person; his family, his humility, his work ethic. He helped me win the Europa League; he scored three goals in the final, he’s crazy. Having him here is a huge joy, above all because of the person he is,’ he said, according to Marca.
