Heartland protest as Amuneke faces tough battle against Shooting Stars in Ibadan

Heartland FC of Owerri say Shooting Stars of Ibadan, in their host in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, match week four clash have denied them the opportunity to train under floodlight in a match that will necessitate the use of the floodlight at some during the game.

The Owerri-based club took to their X handle to complain ahead of the game their coach, Emmanuel Amuneke is condemned to get a result after losing his first two and drawing another in his first season as coach in the NPFL.

‘We just finished our mandatory single training session at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan but we have been denied the use of floodlight for a game scheduled for 5:30pm tomorrow.

‘The lame excuse of no fuel for the generator is not tenable,’ wrote Heartland.

Meanwhile, Amuneke, a former Nigeria international winger says he is expecting a very tough match but believes his side can weather the storm and return to Owerri very happy,.

‘We are gradually getting into shape and we know in a short while, the results will start coming. Shooting Stars are a tough side but we know we have a team that can give a good account of themselves in Ibadan. We have a group of young players who are ready to play and we shall need our fans in Ibadan and its environs to come and support us,’ he told Heartland FC Media.
