‘Hopefully, the new year brings trophies’: Rice eyes silverware in 2025 after Arsenal pip Ipswich Town 1-0

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is hoping for trophies he feels the club deserves after helping the Gunners to beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at the Emirates on Friday to move above Chelsea into second position on the log.

‘I think it has been constant thing for us, dominating games but teams have been coming here with a low block – it is tough to break down a 5-4-1 [formation].

“Second half, I feel we could have had one or two more. Luckily enough in the end it was an important win,’ Rice told Amazon Prime post-match.

Rice believes 2024 has been a good year for the Gunners but insists they want much more than what the year has given them.

“Hopefully, the new year brings trophies. To make that next step to be amongst the elite. We can keep winning games, but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t win anything,’ he added and wants other Premier League clubs to take points off Liverpool who are six points clear at the top with a game in hand.

‘Massive respect to them. They are full throttle. They don’t let anyone breathe and we need someone to help us out so they can drop some points.

“I think Chelsea have been outstanding. They’ve been amazing the way they’ve been playing.”
