‘I didn’t feel like I was running all out,’ says Camacho-Quinn after running personal season’s best to win a hat-trick of 100m hurdles titles in Lausanne

Former Olympic 100m hurdles champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn ran a new 12.35 personal season’s best to win the event for the third time in a row at the Athletissima, the 11th leg of the 15-leg 2024 Wanda Diamond League meetings in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Puerto Rican was just a hundredth of a thousand faster than the 12.36 she ran to win bronze at the Olympics and has now extended her stay at the top of the 100m hurdles syanding ahead of the Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium next month.

USA’s Grace Stark came in second to replace Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan who was second behind Camacho-Quinn in the last two editions of the race in 2022 and 2023 while Jamaican, Ackera Nuggent came in third with both timed at 12.38.

The 28 year old said she did not feel she was running all out albeit she ran a new personal season’s best.

“Even though I didn’t feel like I was running all out, I ́m still winning and running great so I’ll take it. As a veteran, I just show up, do the job, and aim to do better next time. As I’m a veteran, I know what to expect from Lausanne, an amazing crowd,’ she said post race.

Second placed Stark was delighted to have made the kind of debut she made in the competition.

‘I’́m feeling incredibly good tonight, but I am a bit in shock – it’s my first time doing the Diamond League, and I’m super excited. It’s been a long season with a lot of races, but I’m so happy to have kept up with such amazing girls.

‘The stadium here in Lausanne is incredible, with the mountains in the background. I’ve never been to Switzerland before, and it’́s just beautiful. I feel so blessed to be here’, said the American who placed fifth at the Olympics.
