‘I Still Have a Lot Left in the Tank,’ says Anthony After Storming to World Indoor 60m Win
American sprinter Jordan Anthony delivered a stunning performance at the World Indoor Championships, claiming gold in the men’s 60m with a world-leading time of 6.41 seconds.
Anthony, who entered the competition already holding the season’s fastest mark of 6.43, lowered his own world lead in the final to secure his debut global title.
‘Winning the gold feels great, but I feel more excited for the fans than for myself. I still have a lot left in the tank, and this proves to me I picked the right sport,’ he said after the race.
The 20-year-old revealed he had drawn inspiration from fellow American Trayvon Bromell’s semi-final run.
‘I said to his coach Antonio that Trayvon would set the pace and I would follow. When I saw he ran 6.42, I knew I had to run faster,’ Anthony explained.
A former college football player, Anthony compared the atmosphere to his past experiences but admitted sprinting excites him more.
‘I used to perform in front of a lot more people, but coming out here today made me even more excited. This felt easy for me. I am looking forward to the outdoor season,’ he added.
