Idamadudu named Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year

Leads Cumberland University Women's Track & Field to runner-Up finish at MSC Championship

Nigeria’s Praise Idamadudu was Monday named the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year after the 25 year old helped her school tally five gold medals on the day to finish as the Runner-Up at the 2023 Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

She won the 100m, 200m, 400m, and anchored the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay teams to gold. She ran 11.91 in the 100m, 23.71 in the 200m and 55.63 in the 400m.

The University of the Cumberlands claimed the Mid-South Conference Championship after posting 219 points. The Phoenix finished in second with 189.50 points while Campbellsville took third place at 165.50 points.

Cumberland tallied 44 points in sprints, 35 points in distance events and throw events, 29 in jumps, 26 in relays, and 15.5 in hurdles for their total.

Cumberland men’s track and field however completed the sweep of Mid-South Conference titles with Nigeria’s Goodness Iredia playing a huge part in the feat.

Freshman Iredia won the high jump (2.05m) the triple jump events, setting a conference record, stadium record, and school record of 15.93m the latter.
