Idubamo Beggi makes FIBA U18 Women’s Afrobasket All-Star Team

Nigeria’s Idubamo Beggi has been named in the FIBA U18 Women’s Afrobasket All-Star Team after she inspired the J’Tigress to claim a FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and second silver medal in the history of Nigeria’s participation in the tournament.

According to FIBA website, Beggi made huge impact in Nigeria’s run to the final, including beating Egypt and Uganda in the knockout phase after losing to the two countries in the group phase.

‘It was a joy watching Beggi run Nigeria’s offense plays. And her team-high 14 points in the final against Mali may have not enough to spark the J’Tigresses to the title, but her contribution of 18 points and 5 assists per game speak volumes of her impact to the team,’ wrote FIBA.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old forward Oummou Koumare who played a crucial role in helping Mali win the FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket 2024 has been named the competition’s Most Valuable Player and tops the list of the All-Star team.

Koumare was joined in the All-Star line-up by teammate Mama Sidiki Doumbia, Damaris Emedie of Cameroon and Resty Nanangwe of Uganda.
