Ighalo defends Osimhen, says: ‘I can feel the pain in his voice’

Former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo has defended Victor Osimhen, the striker who took over from him in Nigeria’s senior national team following the 25-year old’s inability to secure a transfer out of Napoli on transfer deadline day.

Osimhen was expected to leave Napoli and has agreed a deal to move to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League but his Serie A side’s excessive demand for money forced the Saudi club to shift their focus to England international, Ivan Toney who they signed from Premier league side, Brentford.

While a number of people have been blaming Osimhen for a number of reasons, Ighalo says he is saddened by the whole drama.

‘No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life, but seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened, I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he’s been treated, this young man play with heart and pains for his country, Hmmm it’s well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn everyday in life,’ wrote Ighalo on his X handle.
