Ighalo nets 69th Saudi Pro League goal, Troost-Ekong looking to make sixth start in six games
Odion Ighalo scored in the 82nd minute but it was not enough to give his side, Al Wehda all three points in their Saudi Pro League matchweek six game Thursday at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium in Mecca against visiting Al Feiha.
Ighalo had restored his side’s lead on 82 minutes after Alejandro Pozuelo cancelled Meshal Alaeli’s fourth minute goal in the 74th minute and Al Wehda looked to be cruising home to their second win of the season until the 104th minute when Fashion Sakala struck to earn a point for his side.
The point ensured the two sides are 12 and 13th on the log with five points each.
Ighalo has scored his second goal of the season in five league games and three in seven games across all competitions.
He has also netted his 69th goal in 108 appearances with 17 of the goals coming in 37 games for Al Wehda while the Nigerian scored 31 times in 40 games for Al-Hilal SFC and 21 in 31 appearances for Al-Shabab FC.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong will also be looking to score his second goal in six games for his Saudi Pro League side, Al Kholood who will face their host, Al Khaleej at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam on Friday.
Troost-Ekong netted his first goal of the season when he converted from the spot in the 87th minute for his side’s second goal in their 4-2 loss to visiting Al-Hilal SFC at the Al-Hazem Club Stadium in Ar Rass.
The 2023 AFCON best player has started all his first five games in his debut season in the Saudi Pro League and looks certain to start for the sixth time again.
