Iheanacho cleared to make LaLiga debut on Friday

Kelechi Iheanacho will be available for selection and could make his LaLiga debut this Friday when his club, Sevilla host Villarreal at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Seville after receiving what is termed ‘provisional validation’ by LaLiga.

The Nigerian’s name now features prominently among the 2024/25 confirmed transfers on LaLiga website.

Sevilla could not register the Nigerian with the Spanish League body in time for the trip to Las Palmas last week Friday for their opening game of the 2024/2025 LaLiga season due to the salary cap issue in Spain and the club will have to sell some players and balance their books before they can get some of their players, especially the new signings, registered to play in the league.

With the departure of Marcos Acuña at zero cost to Argentinian side, River Plate, Sevilla looks to have reduced their wage burden and have slipped in the name of the Nigerian who has now been granted ‘provisional validation.’

Iheanacho will now be hoping he gets to play and do what he could not do throughout his stay in England: score on his debut.

He scored 61 goals in 232 appearances for Leicester City and 21 times in 64 games across all competitions.
