Iheanacho Ends Six-Month Drought, Fires Celtic Back into Title Race

Kelechi Iheanacho’s first goal in six months proved decisive as Celtic edged Dundee 2-1 to reignite their Scottish Premiership title challenge.

The Nigerian forward, who had last found the net in October 2025 with a penalty in a 3-2 defeat of Motherwell at Celtic Park, returned to the scoresheet in dramatic fashion at Dens Park.

Introduced from the bench, Iheanacho battled Dundee’s Ryan Astley to control Marcelo Saracchi’s cross before firing home from six yards in the 82nd minute.

His strike, only his third in the Scottish Premiership and fourth in all competitions for Celtic, including one in the Europa League, arrived at a crucial moment.

Celtic had lost all three previous trips to Dundee this season and looked vulnerable again when Simon Murray equalised from the penalty spot in the 57th minute, following a VAR review of Colby Donovan’s handball.

Yang Hyun-jun had earlier given Celtic the lead in the eighth minute, but a series of missed chances left them exposed until Iheanacho’s intervention.
