Iheanacho misses Sevilla training, may sit on bench again for second straight game
Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho was the only international player who has not yet returned to training at LaLiga side, Sevilla following his trip to Nigeria for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 27-year-old did not play for Nigeria in the two games against Benin Republic and Rwanda, his third game in a row for his club and country.
Iheanacho was left on the bench for the duration of Sevilla’s 2-0 loss to visiting Girona at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán just before the international break and did not play in the two AFCON qualifying games.
The striker is now expected to return to training on Friday and will only have one day of work before the LaLiga game against Chrisantus Uche’s Getafe at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
The former Leicester City striker joined Sevilla as a free agent after nine years in England and has featured in two of the four games his side have played so far this season.
