Iheanacho returns to England with Sevilla, seeks first goal in 12 games Vs Liverpool

Kelechi Iheanacho is in Xavier GarcĂa Pimienta’s Sevilla squad that will face Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Anfield on Sunday.

The Nigerian left England after nine playing nine seasons in the Premier League to join LaLiga side, Sevilla and is in the trip to Liverpool for his new club’s final pre-season game before facing Las Palmas in their opening game of the Spanish LaLiga season on Friday.

Iheanacho played 296 times for both Manchester City and Leicester City and scored 82 times, a figure Sevilla will be hoping the Nigerian can at least repeat when the season starts.

Interestingly, none of the 27 year old Nigerian’s 82 goals came against Liverpool albeit he featured 11 times against the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League champion.

Iheanacho will thus seek to end that unwanted record on Sunday if he gets to play as he only started training with his new club on Wednesday after concluding all the necessary paper work to ensure his work permit in Spain.

Liverpool are the only top side the Nigerian did not score against during his sojourn in England. He scored once against Chelsea in 14 games, thrice against his former club, Man City in 13 games, once in 13 games versus Arsenal and four times in 12 appearances against Man United.
