Iheanacho set for first Sevilla action in October, still looking to score first goal in 2024!
Kelechi Iheanacho is likely going to make his first start and play for the first time in one month for his LaLiga side, Sevilla who travel to Madrid to play Spanish football tier three side, Las Rozas at the Estadio Navalcarbón in the preliminary round of the 2024/25 Copa del Rey competition.
The Nigerian, who joined Sevilla as a free agent in July, has not featured for the club since he played for 59 minutes in his club’s 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao at the San Mamés at the end of September.
Iheanacho has been an unused substitute in the three LaLiga games Sevilla have played this outgoing month viz the 1-0 defeat of Real Betis in the Seville derby, the 5-1 loss to Barcelona and the 2-0 win at Espanyol just last weekend.
The 28-year-old has not fulfilled expectations of the fans of the club who thought the Nigerian will deliver the goals after scoring 82 times in 296 games across all competitions for Manchester City and Leicester City.
He is yet to score again in the five appearances he has made in 11 LaLiga matches so far played this term and the Super Eagle will be expected to get his career back on track with an impressive performance on Wednesday night and goals.
If he scores, it will be his first in the 2024 calendar year for both club and country. He last scored in October 2023 in a Sky Bet Championship game for Leicester City at Swansea City.
